China's SMM Antimony Ingot Production Assessment Increased Around 22.5% MoM in August 2025 [SMM Data]

Published: Aug 29, 2025 14:49

According to SMM's assessment, China's antimony ingot production (including antimony ingots, crude antimony conversion, antimony cathode, etc.) in August 2025 increased by approximately 22.5% MoM. In detail, among the 33 surveyed producers currently assessed by SMM, 13 remained idle, down by 4 MoM; 18 reported production cuts, up by 4 MoM; while 2 maintained normal output levels, unchanged from the previous month. Regarding antimony ingot output, after dropping below 4,000 mt in July, production rebounded to over 4,000 mt in August. Many market participants viewed this as a normal fluctuation, though the 4,000 mt level still falls significantly short of regular production capacity. Imported ore supplies continue to face constraints entering the domestic market in large volumes. Industry sources anticipate China's September 2025 antimony ingot production may show limited variation from August, potentially stabilizing or experiencing minor fluctuations.

Note: Since May 2022, SMM has been publishing its nationwide antimony ingot production assessment (including antimony ingots, crude antimony conversion, antimony cathode, etc.). Benefiting from SMM's high coverage rate in the antimony industry, the survey encompasses 33 producers across 8 provinces, with total sample capacity exceeding 20,000 mt and coverage rate surpassing 99%.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
